MULTIFAMILY OCCUPANCY DOWN, RENTS UP
CARROLLTON (ALNsystems.com)
– Occupancy in multifamily complexes continued to fall even as rents
went up, according to the latest figures from ALN. For the year ending
December 2008:
Austin
Occupancy
decreased from 93.7 percent in December 2007 to 89 percent in December
2008. Average monthly rent increased from $842 to $881, a 4.6 percent
jump.
Dallas
Occupancy decreased from 90.9 percent to 89.1 percent. Rent increased
2.8 percent, going from $792 to $814.
Fort
Worth
Occupancy dropped from 89.7 percent to 87.7 percent. Rent rose from $725
to $738, a 1.8 percent increase.
Houston
Occupancy decreased from 88.3 percent to 88.2 percent. Rent increased by
5.3 percent, going from $737 to $776.
San
Antonio
Occupancy decreased from 90.1
percent to 88.4 percent. Rent increased 3 percent, going from $709 to
$731.
