TEXAS EXISTING HOME SALES, PRICES DROP
TEXAS (Real Estate Center, NAR) – A total of
19,884 existing single-family homes were sold in Texas last month, a 12
percent decrease from August 2008, according to MLS data compiled by the
Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.
The median price dropped 1 percent to
$150,400 during the same period, and the state finished the month with a
7.5-month inventory of existing homes.

The National Association of Realtors
reports that, nationally, sales of existing single-family homes fell 2.8
percent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.48 million
from 4.61 million in July. However, that was 2.5 percent higher than the
4.37 million-unit pace reported a year ago.
Meanwhile, the median existing home price
was $177,500 in August, down 12.1 percent from August 2008.
